BOB1, (1) boabe, s.n. (2, rar 1) bobi, s.m. 1. s.n. Sămânţă de cereale sau de legume care fac fructe păstăi; grăunte, boabă (2). ♢ loc. adv. Bob cu bob = cu grijă şi răbdare; amănunţit. Din bob în bob = amănunţit. Bob numărat = întocmai, exact. ♢ expr. A da (sau a ghici) în bobi = a căuta tainele viitorului după cum se aşază bobii aruncaţi de ghicitor. ♦ Orice părticică de materie friabilă care seamănă cu un grăunte. Bob de nisip. 2. s.m. Plantă leguminoasă cu flori albe sau trandafirii, cu păstăi mari şi cu seminţe ovale, turtite (Vicia faba); măzăriche (I). ♦ p. restr. Sămânţa acestei plante. – Din sl. bobŭ.
