TRANSCENDENTALÍSM s.n. 1. Doctrină filozofică idealistă, întemeiată de Kant, care se bazează pe ideea că formele apriorice ale conştiinţei ar preceda experienţa şi ar constitui condiţiile existenţei ei. 2. Şcoală filozofică americană, iniţiată de R. W. Emerson (1836) şi caracterizată printr-un misticism panteist, care critică de pe poziţii romantice capitalismul, propunând rezolvarea problemelor sociale prin autoperfecţionarea morală.
