VÉRTEX s.n. 1. Creştetul capului (la animalele vertebrate). ♦ Punctul cel mai proeminent al unei formaţii anatomice. 2. Punct în care ortodroma atinge cea mai mare latitudine. 3. Punctul cel mai vestic atins de un ciclon în emisfera noastră, de la care acesta îşi schimbă direcţia. [< fr., lat. vertex].
