CARDAMOM s.m. şi n. Arbust (Eletarria cardamomum) înrudit cu ghimberul, care creşte în sudul Indiei, în Sri Lanka şi Malaezia şi ale cărui fructe în formă de capsule aromate conţin 12-20 de seminţe; p.restr. seminţele de cardamom, de culoare brună sau neagră, prelevate din capsulele culese înainte de coacere şi uscate; utilizate ca atare, zdrobite sau măcinate, reprezintă una din cele mai căutate şi mai scumpe mirodenii din lume.
