COMPONÉNT, -Ă, componenţi, -te, adj., subst. 1. adj. Care intră ca parte într-un întreg; alcătuitor. ♦ (Substantivat, f.) Element component (1). 2. s.n. (chim.) Fiecare dintre substanţele sau speciile moleculare ale unui sistem fizico-chimic. 3. s.f. (fiz.) Fiecare dintre vectorii în care se descompune un anumit vector şi ale căror efecte însumate sunt echivalente cu efectul vectorului dat. 4. s.n. pl. (electron.; în sintagmele) Componente active = denumire generică pentru diode, tranzistoare, circuite integrate. Componente pasive = denumire generică pentru rezistoare, capacitoare etc. – Din germ. Komponente, it. componente.
