CONVENŢIONALÍSM s.n. 1. Caracterul a ceea ce este conveţional. 2. (lit.; arte) Tendinţă de supunere la regulile general acceptate, fără o percepere proprie, realistă a faptelor; prezenţă masivă în opera de artă a unor elemente de conţinut sau de expresie devenite clişee; lipsa unei viziuni estetice-ideologice proprii. 3. Concepţie filozofică de tip pozitivist, potrivit căreia axiomele geometrice, ca şi legile ştiinţei sunt simple simboluri sau convenţii create de oamenii de ştiinţă din considerente de comoditate a gândirii, în mod arbitrar. ♦ Convenţionalism moral = teorie care consideră morala drept rezultat al convenţiei, al acordului dintre indivizi asupra a ceea ce este bine sau rău.
