cosînzeánă (cosînzéne), s.f. – Prototip al frumuseţii, în basmele populare. – Ileana Cosînzeana, personaj feminin mitic, care personifică idealul lui Făt Frumos. Origine incertă. Este evidentă înrudirea cuvîntului cu sînzeană; însă prima parte a cuvîntului este mai puţin clară. Este poate o amintire a Sfintei Elena, mama lui Constantin, dacă se admite o formă Helena Co(n)s(t)antiana: z s-ar explica prin pronunţarea ngr. *Cos(t)andiana, sau mai bine printr-o contaminare posterioară cu sînziană. Pentru pierderea primului t, cf. forma sl. Kustenitŭ ‹ Kονσταντίνος (Vaillant, BL, XIV, 7). Philippide, Principii, 138, se gîndea la lat. semidivina, ca epitet al Elenei din Troia, soluţie evident imposibilă; pentru DAR şi Scriban, este vorba de o var. de la sînzeană.
