Mag. áldomás "cinstire", de la áldani "a binecuvînta" (Cihac, II, 475; Berneker 27; Gáldi, dict., 86); cf. rut. odomaš "dar, cadou", sb. aldumaš "salariu", slov. aldomaš "salariu". – Der. aldămăşar, s.m. (Trans., persoană care are dreptul la o cinste). De la áldani există în Trans. a aldui, vb. (a binecuvînta), alduială, s.f. (binecuvîntare), cf. Gáldi, Dict., 100.
