HERÁLD, heralzi, s.m. Dregător la curţile suveranilor din evul mediu, care avea sarcina de a purta insignele monarhilor sau ale principilor, de a anunţa începutul turnirelor şi numele învingătorilor, de a transmite declaraţiile de război etc. – Din lat. heraldus. cf. fr. h é r a u t.
