left (léfţi), s.m.1. Monedă de aur de cinci ducaţi. – 2. Medalie, medalion. – 3. Colier, salbă. ngr. λεφτόν, formă populară a lui λεπτόν "centimă" (Cihac, II, 668; DAR; Gáldi 205). Nu este posibilă der. din bg. levče "monedă" (Pascu, Arch. rom., VII, 559). Sensul 3 se explică prin uzul comun al medaliilor de aur cu mărgele în şirag.
