báftă (báfte), s.f. – Noroc, succes. tc. baht (Popescu-Ciocănel 14; DAR; Ronzevalle 48), care a trecut în ţig. batch (Miklosich, Zig., 172; Wlislocki 72). În rom. pare a fi intrat prin intermediul ţig. (Graur 124; Graur, Notes, IV, 196; Juilland 157) şi consideră o nuanţă de vulgaritate; cu toate că este un cuvînt foarte folosit în limbajul comun, apare rareori în literatură. Din tc. provin şi ngr. βάχτ, alb. baft, bg., sb. bacht. – Stamati foloseşte de mai multe ori cuvîntul baftă, cu sensul de "gură, cioc"; nu cunoaştem raţiunea acestei întrebuinţări, care nu apare la alt autor şi pe care nu o găsim în dicţionare. – Der. băftos, adj. (norocos).
