ROD, roade, s.n. 1. Nume generic dat produselor vegetale obţinute de la plantele cultivate, în special fructelor; fruct. ♢ loc. adj. Cu rod = roditor, fructifer. ♢ Compuse: rodul-pământului = plantă erbacee veninoasă, cu frunze mari, late şi lucioase, după a cărei dezvoltare florală poporul apreciază recolta anului (Arum maculatum); (înv.) rod-de-zahăr = dulceaţă de trandafiri; rodozahar. 2. fig. Urmare, rezultat, efect (al unei acţiuni). ♦ Folos, avantaj. 3. (pop.) Copil, prunc, vlăstar, odraslă. [var.: (rar) roádă s.f.] – Din sl. rodŭ.
